I Bow to Bob

Kuddos to Dylan
On his recent Nobel
He really deserves it
His words are just swell

And here I have finished
My next mystery story
Though I do not expect
Such fame or much glory

No, the reason I
Continue writing
The thing I find
The most exciting

Is readers who tell me
My books make them happy
They like to laugh
They’re okay with sappy

Silly characters?
Every single one!
Unlikely plots?
Hey, that’s what’s so fun

So Unexpected’s
My latest endeavor
I hope to keep writing
Both now and forever

The Red Carpet

Like the Super Bowl
Which I watch for the ads
The Oscars I watch
To see fashion fads

I love to see
What they wear
How they’ve dressed up
And what’s done with their hair

The red carpet parade
Is really the best
I seldom stay awake
Through all the rest

The jewelry, I hear
Is mostly on loan
I mean, just take a look
At the size of that stone

Best actor or actress?
Best picture or score?
What I will remember
Is what they all wore

Super Bowl Saga—Second Quarter

I work on snacks
Hubby cooks chili
As traditions go
This one’s real silly
And fattening, too
If you must know
But that’s what we do
Every Super Bowl show
No matter who’s playing
We watch the game
Though my understanding
Of football’s quite lame
But there’s always dessert
To keep me involved
I guess it is good
That last call was solved
And now the half-time show
Is about to begin
Watching these games
Is no way to stay thin

Paul and Bob over BB-8

Star Wars is great
I intended to go
To see this sci fi
Blockbuster show

But this weekend offers
Another great choice
And middle-aged me
Just had to rejoice

Butch Cassidy and
The Sundance Kid
Back on the big screen?
Well that gets my bid

Thanks TMC
For presenting this chance
To see Paul and Robert
As Butch and Sundance

On the silver screen
As opposed to TV
Paul’s eyes, Robert’s grin
And all commercial free!

So I’ll have to see Star Wars
Some other time
And that is the gist
Of this week’s bad rhyme

A Kindle Scout Shout-Out to the Stars!

You say George Clooney
And Curtis, Jamie Lee
Have nothing in common
With little old me

Okay, you are right
For now that is true
But read my Scout page
And before you are through

You’ll see Jessie Hewitt
Has a dream to be seen
Shooting some Eight Ball
On the big silver screen

Jessie says Ms. Curtis
Would be great at this role
And Clooney for Rye?
Yep, that is the goal!

My Kindle Scout page
Has fun ideas like this
But before ending this poem
I’d be rather remiss

If I didn’t ask that you
Click the “nominate” key
If my book gets chosen
It will fill me with glee

‘Cuz then Five Spot
Would be published by Scout
Giving the Cue Balls
Great publicity and clout

Enough to convince
George and Jamie Lee?
Jessie and Rye
Are waiting to see!

Ode to The Big Bang Theory

There must be worse
As addictions go
But mine is to
A TV show

On The Big Bang Theory
I am sold
Leonard and Penny
Never get old

I’ve only been watching
For about a year
I’ve missed a lot
But never fear

I have caught up
With re-runs galore
So now I know
All Big Bang lore

I know I’m hooked
I actually cried
When in this season
Mrs. Wolowitz died

Amy Farrah Fowler,
Bernie, Howard, Rog
These characters rock
A comic collage

Some gags are
A bit too crude
And laughing likely
Makes me rude

But laugh I do
At every joke
Let’s face it, Sheldon’s
A wierdly charming bloke
